Reaching 300 and
Growing

Pages of the World has proudly reached over 300 students so far, bringing cultural diversity and literacy to young learners in our community. This milestone reflects our commitment to connecting children with engaging resources that inspire curiosity and a love of learning about the world. We are dedicated to expanding our reach even further, helping more students gain an understanding of different cultures and traditions.

At our inaugural *Pages of the World* presentation, we focused on the country of Afghanistan. To kick off the event, we started with an icebreaker activity called "Where the Wind Blows," where children and parents were introduced to each other and had a chance to mingle before the presentation began. Using *The Carpet* as our guide, we explored Afghanistan’s rich culture, teaching the kids about its history, traditions, and way of life. Through stories and discussions, we emphasized the importance of learning about other cultures and how, despite differences, humanity is the same everywhere. The children were excited to discover Afghanistan’s unique aspects while understanding that people around the world share similar hopes, dreams, and values.

Library Buzzes with Lunar New Year Fun!

Over 100 kids and grown-ups joined Alexa and me at the library for a joyful Lunar New Year celebration! We shared the story of "Amy Wu Must Craft a Dragon," a tale of creativity and cultural traditions.

Amy's struggle to make her own unique dragon resonated with the kids. They cheered her on as she found inspiration in family stories and created her perfect dragon.

After the reading, curious questions filled the air! Kids wanted to know more about Lunar New Year customs and their deeper meaning. We loved sharing our knowledge and sparking their curiosity.

As part of the Pages of the World, this event was a dream come true. We're grateful to Ms. Pedden, the amazing children's librarian, for giving us this opportunity. Her support made the event a blast!

Looking ahead, we're excited to continue these celebrations that bring people together through stories and culture. Here's to many more fun-filled library adventures!

Egypt

A packed room of excited kids and families joined Alexa and me at the library for an unforgettable journey through Ancient Egypt! We shared the story of  "We’re Sailing Down the Nile", a lively adventure filled with history and wonder.

The kids were fascinated as they followed the characters' journey along the Nile River, discovering famous landmarks like the pyramids and the Sphinx. Their excitement grew with each page as they imagined themselves on an Egyptian adventure.

After the reading, the fun continued with a creative activity! The kids colored pictures of ancient Egyptian monuments, bringing the stories of pharaohs and temples to life through art.

As part of the Pages of the World, this event was a dream come true. We’re so thankful to Ms. Pedden, the wonderful children's librarian, whose support made the experience unforgettable.

We can’t wait for more story-filled adventures that connect people through books and cultural exploration. Here’s to many more unforgettable library events!

Celebration of Norooz

A group of children and families joined Alexa and me at the library to celebrate Norooz, the Persian New Year. We read "Norooz: A Celebration of Spring!" a story highlighting the traditions and meaning behind this holiday.

The children were engaged as they learned about the Haft-Seen table, a key part of the celebration, and the significance of items like sabzeh (sprouts for growth) and sonbol (hyacinth for spring’s arrival). They gained a deeper understanding of the holiday’s customs with each page.

This event, part of Pages of the World, was a great way to share culture through storytelling. We are grateful to Ms. Pedden, the children’s librarian, whose support made it possible.

We look forward to more events that connect people through books and cultural experiences.
